Main information

The pneumology or lung clinic is managed by specialized doctors. It is aimed at the diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases and their symptoms, monitoring the degree of their severity, the dynamics of the disease and the effectiveness of the treatment. They are   for example:

• acute and chronic cough

• exertional and rest dyspnea

• inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, lungs and pleura  including TB

• bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

• sarcoidosis

• diffuse interstitial lung diseases

• primary diagnosis in case of suspected malignant or benign tumor diseases

• examination of patients before and during biological treatment (indicated by a rheumatologist, gastroenterologist, ...)

• abnormal pathomorphological changes in the lungs (bronchiectasis, emphysema)

All diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are in accordance with the currently valid diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines recommended by the European Respirological Society   (ERS) and the Slovak Pneumophtiseological Society (SPFS)​.

Services

Our clinic is also equipped with a top-quality spirometer. It allows us  to examine lung function parameters,   which are of great importance for diagnosis, assessment of severity and effectiveness of treatment in the most common lung diseases (bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and other.

• spirometry

• pulse oximetry - A simple non-invasive method of monitoring blood oxygen saturation and pulse frequency. It is suitable for diagnosing snoring and sleep-disordered breathing. Its advantage is that the patient can be monitored during sleep in the home environment.
