Main information

Part of the diagnostic process may include allergy skin tests and laboratory blood tests. The choice of tests depends on the symptoms, the patient's age, the medication used, and the suspected type of allergy or immunological disorder.

Skin tests

Skin tests are used mainly when an immediate allergic reaction to selected allergens is suspected. Small amounts of the tested substances are applied to the skin, and the local reaction is then evaluated.

The doctor selects specific allergens based on the patient's medical history. Testing unrelated to symptoms can lead to results that have no clinical significance for the patient.

Some medications can affect the result of skin testing. Do not stop taking any medication before the examination without prior instructions from the doctor or the clinic.

Laboratory blood tests

Blood tests can help detect antibodies against specific allergens and assess selected parts of the immune system.

Depending on the patient's health condition, the doctor may indicate basic or extended allergological and immunological laboratory tests. The scope of testing is determined individually and is not the same for every patient.

The results of laboratory and skin tests are interpreted by an allergologist or immunologist in connection with the patient's symptoms.

What the first immunoallergology examination involves

  1. Interview and medical history – The doctor will ask about symptoms, their duration, seasonality, possible triggers, past illnesses, the frequency of infections, medication used, and any family history of allergic diseases.
  2. Specialist examination – This is followed by an examination focused on the current difficulties and the patient's overall health condition.
  3. Selection of suitable tests – Based on the findings, the doctor decides whether skin tests, laboratory blood tests, or other specialist examinations are needed.
  4. Evaluation and treatment plan – Once the necessary results are obtained, the doctor explains the diagnosis or probable cause of the difficulties and proposes treatment, lifestyle measures, and a follow-up date.

What to bring to the examination

We recommend bringing the following to the first examination:

  • available medical documentation,
  • results of previous allergological or immunological examinations,
  • a list of medications you are taking,
  • reports from other specialists,
  • information about past infections and previous antibiotic treatment,
  • a referral, if required depending on the booking method or method of payment.

When booking, the reception will inform you which documents are needed and whether you need to prepare specifically for the planned testing.

Immunoallergology for children and adults

Allergic diseases and immune disorders can occur at any age. The clinic provides care for both children and adults, taking into account age, health condition, and the individual needs of the patient.

When booking an appointment for a child, we recommend stating their age and the reason for the examination so that the reception can select a suitable doctor and appointment time.
